Cal Maritime defeated Berkeley 24-3 in match one of a Norcal rugby series. Cal Maritime was down to the Bears at halftime before the Bears put together four second-half tries to win the match. The match had been scoreless until the 37th minute, when Cal Maritime scored a penalty kick to go up 3-0. Robert Kelley scored the Cal first try in the second period. Mark Richter converted the two point conversion. The Bears began to take control of the game as they developed phases and sequences.

Modesto whippets won four 60-meter or more tries

The Modesto whippets got four tries under the posts during a thrilling second-half battle against San Francisco. Although there were a few cards and penalties, the game was close and contested. However, both sides displayed good sportsmanship.

2014 was a banner year for the UCSC Women's Rugby Football Club. The team finished second in Pacific Western Conference. Santa Clara University was defeated in the first round. The team has put in a lot of effort to be competitive and had a lot of fun.

Nevada showed greatness against Sac State but it wasn't enough for the win. The Wolf Pack did not perform well offensively and the defense was less than stellar. Nevada will continue to work on its offensive and defensive lines to make it back in the playoff race despite the loss.
